Prayer for Sawston

Prayer for Sawston  No. 19 September 2010

The Loving Father
Luke 15 v 11 – 32

The Father always comes to meet us to transform our lives by his love. He will always take the initiative to make Sawston a real sign of his kingdom on earth.

v. 19 While he was still a long way off, his Father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son.
Pray that we may see where the Father is running to find his lost people and that we may be part of that amazing compassion. Give thanks that the initiative is his not ours.
Pray for Rita and Jose the two church wardens at St Mary’s Parish Church that they may know God’s compassion in their own lives as they care for members of their congregation.
Pray for the new online Sawston Business Group and continue to pray that all the empty buildings in our High Street will find appropriate uses.

v.19 I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.
Pray for all those who are lost and far from God that they may see Him and want to turn back.
Pray for the Christianity Explored groups run by Christchurch, South Cambs

v. 31 My son, the Father said, you are always with me and everything I have is yours.
Pray for all of us who can so easily feel like the elder brother in that we have worked hard and want a reward. Pray that we all understand what grace really means.
Help each of us to pray with love and gratitude not with self righteousness and pride.

v.31 We had to celebrate and be glad
Pray that the Sawston Free Church quiet day on 25th September will be filled with joy.
Give thanks for the centuries of Catholic witness in Sawston, still vibrant today.
Pray for the new school term that all children and teachers will settle in well and enjoy their experience.
Pray for Jon Culpin the new Head teacher at Sawston Village College.
Pray for the work of GenR8 in the local schools that children may hear the message and receive it gladly.

The book ‘The Prodigal God’ by Tim Keller published by Hodder Books is a really good read on this subject.

We meet on Thursday Sept 2nd from 1 p.m. to 2p.m at John Huntingdon House
If you would like to pass this onto someone else and they wish to have a personal copy please suggest they send their e mail address to Carolyn Bridges at g_bridges@lineone.net
